NikeLab exists at the intersection of innovation, sport, design and culture. At the core of its innovation mission lies sustainability, so it was a personal vision to bring this value to Nike’s built environments, which has been significantly behind the progress that Nike’s consumer products have made towards reducing their carbon footprint. The wall panels are made of recycled airbag material and Nike Grind - recycled athletic footwear and surplus manufacturing scraps. The 83 imprinted swooshes are inspired by the number of gold medals won by US athletes during the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles to ground it in the city, and the pattern was created using parametric algorithms, designed to shift in perspective as you walk around the space.
